It wasn't all just the Tom Cruise show at this year's Paramount Presentation for CinemaCon. The studio also had a sizzle reel to show off, highlighting a few of its upcoming movies.
Though the company had perhaps a more muted presentation than, say, Disney or even Universal, Paramount went on celebrating its box office success so far this year, including good results for Sonic The Hedgehog 2, Jackass Forever, The Lost City and the latest Scream.
With the much-delayed Top Gun: Maverick next up for the studio, that screened in full to enthusiastic response.
Looking further ahead, the footage reel included first glimpses of Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts (cue shots of Optimus Prime in action) and the still-mysterious Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (some impressive-looking backdrops, plus the likes of Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez and Regé-Jean Page in armour).
The biggest chunk was reserved for La La Land and First Man director Damien Chazelle's latest, Babylon. An all-star cast is bringing to life a late 1920s tale of Hollywood's transition from silent films to talkies. Margot Robbie is front and centre as iconic actor Clara Bow, with Brad Pitt as silent film star John Gilbert. Tobey Maguire's playing Charlie Chaplin, while Max Minghella is Irving Thalberg. The cast also includes Spike Jonze, Jean Smart, Flea, Samara Weaving and Olivia Wilde, and is led by Diego Calva.
