Paramount Picks Up Battling Boy

Another day, another news story about a graphic novel coming to the big screen. So much for the change we need.

Anyway, this one sounds cool – Universal has picked up the rights to Paul Pope’s 2010 graphic novel, Battling Boy, which revolves around the son of a god (shades of Thor) who comes down from the top of a mountain (slight shades of Thor) to rid a city of giant monsters (ok, no shades of Thor). Could be ridiculous, could be OTT, could be heaps of fun.

The movie will be produced by Brad Pitt’s Plan B production company. At the moment, Pitt isn’t involved, though – the movie will be produced by Dede Gardner and Jeremy Klein.

Plan B is currently looking for a writer with a Plan A to adapt the graphic novel, which will be published in spring of 2010. So it’s early days yet. More as we get it.
