With the success of Paranormal Activity and its sequel, Paramount has naturally been scouting about for more ultra low-budget indie pics that it can hoover up on the cheap and push out into the world. The studio even created a new arm to do just that called Paramount Insurge. Now tthey've found its first likely candidate, nabbing William Brent Bell’s The Devil Inside.

Bell, the director of 2006 video game horror pic Stay Alive, went guerrilla for his follow-up, crafting a documentary-style tale of a woman who is made to think she murdered three people because she was clinically insane. But then she digs deeper and discovers that the killings occurred during an exorcism and she heads to Italy to find out more.

With Fernanda Andrade in the cast alongside Simon Quarterman, Evan Helmuth and Suzan Crowley, Bell shot last year in Bulgaria. And the subject matter seems set to cash in on the recent flood of exorcism-flavoured horror pics.

There’s no word when the film will be released, though the usual Halloween slot is currently reserved for Paranormal Activity 3.
