Though the 2019 remake of Stephen King tale Pet Sematary didn't win over many critics, it did score some solid box office returns, which means a follow-up is on the way. Yet this will actually be a prequel film, and now we know that Pam Grier is joining the cast.
Lindsey Beer, who has worked on Netflix shows such as Sierra Burgess Is A Loser and The Magic Order, plus contributed to the Chaos Walking script, is making her directorial debut with the film, which according to Variety, has the 2019 film's writer Jeff Buhler returning.
Grier joins a cast that includes Jackson White, Forrest Goodluck, Jack Mulhern, Natalie Alyn Lind and Isabella Star LeBlanc, and this will serve as an origin story to the novel about a family that discovers a disturbing graveyard in the woods behind their home.
The cameras start rolling next month, and Paramount is aiming to debut the eventual movie on its Paramount+ service across the pond, which means it could either end up in cinemas on on VOD here in the UK.
