'British people don't seem to ask each other out on dates,' she told Now magazine last year. 'If someone asks you out they're really going out on a limb, whereas in America it happens all the time.' How things have changed. A swift romance with British singer Chris Martin and today Paltrow's publicist announces that the actress is pregnant with Martin's child. 'I'm pleased to confirm that they are expecting their first child next summer,' was the actual announcement. Now that's what we call progress.
