As the streaming wars continue, there are certain services that easily straddle the Atlantic – Netflix, Disney+ and the like. But others like Hulu get a little lost in the shuffle, shows and movies getting picked up on a case-by-case basis by a range of different outlets in the UK. One such 2020 release that’s fallen between the cracks this year is Palm Springs – the time-loop rom-com starring Andy Samberg, which was critically praised on its US release back in July, but has so far failed to get a UK release. Thankfully, it’s now found a home over here.

In several countries, Palm Springs is now set to arrive on Amazon Prime Video. In the UK it’s expected to debut at some point in early 2021 (there isn’t an official date yet), while a few other lucky territories – including Australia, New Zealand, Finland and Canada – will get it before the year is out. France and the Netherlands will likely be able to stream it at the same time it arrives in the UK.

The film stars Samberg as Nyles and Cristin Milioti as Sarah, both attending a wedding in Palm Springs – and in this version of the high-concept set-up, they both find themselves stuck experiencing the same day over and over and over again. Think Groundhog Day, except if Andy MacDowell was also trapped in the loop too. It’s the feature debut of filmmaker Max Barbakow, from a screenplay by writer Andy Siara. With near-universal acclaim, Palm Springs is definitely something to look forward to in the early parts of 2021, assuming we don’t get stuck in a 2020 time loop before then (which, to be fair, would be the most 2020 thing to happen in 2020 yet). See you then… we hope.
