Slip on your duffel coat and lather a generous spread of marmalade onto your sandwich: Paddington is back. After charming the Wellington boots off us with his first big-screen outing back in 2014, the loveable bear from darkest Peru returns to our screens this year with Paddington 2 – and today, we’ve been treated to our first glimpse of the sequel. Take a look at the Paddington 2 teaser here.

The follow-up sees Ben Whishaw return to voice the clumsy spectacled bear, still living with Mr & Mrs Brown (Hugh Bonneville and Sally Hawkins) and their family at 32 Windsor Gardens, London. This time around, Paddington embarks on a series of odd jobs to pay for a present for his Aunt Lucy’s 100th birthday. But when the book he has his eye on is stolen, a hunt for the thief ensues...

Alongside returning cast members Julie Walters, Peter Capaldi and Jim Broadbent, there’s new potential baddies in the form of Hugh Grant as narcissistic actor Phoenix Buchanan, sporting a moustache seemingly waiting to be twiddled; and Brendan Gleeson as the brilliantly-named Knuckles McGinty, a baker and safecracker.

The Mighty Boosh director Paul King is returning to helm the whole affair, and King has co-written the script with Mindhorn star and fellow Boosh alumni Simon Farnaby. Potter producer David Heyman is again lending his producing weight to proceedings.

Pack a sandwich: Paddington 2 arrives in UK cinemas on 10 November, ahead of the US release in January 2018.
