Back in October last year, it looked like real-life married couple Chris Pratt and Anna Faris would be starring together in a new comedy. Now, probably because Pratt’s crammed schedule (and Faris’ TV commitments) make it more difficult, Ice Cube will be taking over one of the lead roles in **Vacation Friends.
Steve Pink is still aboard to direct the film, and is taking a fresh crack at the script that was originally written by Tim Mullen and Tom Mullen. The plot would see Cube as a tightly-wound lawyer who goes on holiday with his girlfriend Emily. She’s usually calm and collected at home, but has a wild streak she likes to indulge while on holiday. Taking a trip to Mexico, they meet a much more uninhibited couple and decide to have a little fun. But when Cube and his gf return home and he tries to get things back to their well-ordered way, he discovers that their new pals have followed them home, and want to keep the party going…
Yes, it’s Cube back in uptight mode, which we know he can do well (will Korean Jesus be along for the ride?) and it’s the sort of film that has been successful for him in the past. Talking of, he’ll be back on screens in Ride Along 2, which drives onto UK screens on January 22.
