Once upon a time, it was all thrusters firing on a Halo movie, the adaptation of the huge-selling game ready to hit screens courtesy of Neill Blomkamp. Until... it wasn't. But for a while now, it has been targeting smaller screens, and we finally have some casting to report, with word that American Gods' Pablo Schreiber will play the iconic Master Chief.
Kyle Killen and Steven Kane are aboard to oversee the show as its primary writer/producers, aiming to bring to life the 26th-century conflict between humanity and the alien race known as the Covenant. The Master Chief will serve as our main character for the series, joined by Australian newcomer Yerin Ha, who will play a newly created character in the Halo universe, Quan Ah. Quan Ah is described as a "shrewd, audacious 16-year-old from the Outer Colonies who meets Master Chief at a fateful time for them both."
With Otto Bathurst on to help start the series as its first director, the aim is to film nine episodes for the first season, with production kicking off in Budapest this autumn and the show likely to launch on US network Showtime next year.
