Given how much money the likes of DreamWorks and Pixar have made in the animation game over the last decade or so, you can understand why other companies would look at the ‘toon market with envious eyes, then jump on in. Bedrock Studios is the latest new start up looking for a piece of the CG pie, gearing up Turkeys, featuring the voices of Owen Wilson and Woody Harrelson.

Ash Brannon, who worked at Pixar for years, then jumped ship for the chance to direct Sony’s penguin comedy Surf’s Up, is the man in charge of getting the take of two time travelling turkeys to the screen. The two poultry pals figure that if they can influence the first Thanksgiving, they can take themselves and their friends off the American menu for good. Wonder if the sequel would see them tackling Christmas over here?*

Owen’s brother Luke is also on board to lend his tonsils to the project, which Bedrock is aiming to produce for less than $35 million. The new production company had better hope it works, or the puns on the film’s title will ring out for days.
