Could Owen Wilson be the new Larry David? No, we don’t mean he’s taking over as the lead on Curb Your Enthusiasm (the thought makes us quiver in horror), but he has won a starring role in Woody Allen’s latest, untitled project scheduled to shoot this summer.

It’s not clear what role Wilson will play, but then that’s because Allen tends to keep everything about his films pretty quiet until the details finally start to trickle out once shooting is well under way or, for preference, finished. But we do know French first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy will be acting in the thing and that more will likely be known once Cannes kicks off, since film company Imagina is selling rights at the fest.

The latest Woody film set for release – You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger, starring Anthony Hopkins, Antonio Banderas, Josh Brolin, Naomi Watts and Freida Pinto – will arrive later this year.
