People going on unexpected quests to find something or someone are a comedy staple, one that Father Figures is ready to exploit for what it's hoping will be a laugh riot. Owen Wilson and Ed Helms are the stars here for the movie, which has a new trailer online.
The premise here is a simple one: Kyle (Wilson) and Peter Reynolds (Helms) have known for years who their father is, according to what their mother Helen (Glenn Close) has told them. But, as it turns out, she was lying – she conceived them in the 1970s, at a time when things were a lot wilder...
So with a promising crop of potential dads, including J.K. Simmons' Ronald, Ving Rhames' Rod, American Football veteran Terry Bradshaw (playing a version of himself) and – though his name is weirdly not in the credits – Christopher Walken. They'll have to figure out which, if any, is their real pop, and encounter weirdoes along the way.
With Lawrence Sher, who served as cinematographer on the Hangover movies stepping up to direct for the first time, Father Figures will be out on 22 December.
