You might think director Jaume Collet-Serra would have enough on his plate right now between the endlessly frustrating Akira and the still-gestating Dracula alternative Harker. But no – he’s adding producer to his credits for a thriller called Inertia, starring Oscar Isaac.
Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego will direct the film, which finds Isaac as an immigrant who witnesses a fatal hit-and-run and decides to go after the car. It’ll be shot in Spanish from a script by Lopez-Gallego and regular writing partner Fernando Navarro.
"I've been a fan and wanting to work with Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego since El Rey De La Montana," Collet-Serra tells Variety. "I'm thrilled that the first film Ombra is doing with Gonzalo will star Oscar Isaac, who I consider to be one of the pre-eminent young actors working today." The tyres will start screeching this summer.
We’re a little less thrilled with the director choice since Gallego last brought the world Apollo 18. But hopefully Inertia will allow him to return to form.
Isaac appears in W.E. and will next show up in The Bourne Legacy and the Coens’** Inside Llewyn Davis**.
