While the MCU has been somewhat grounded this year with the global pandemic – forcing multiple delays on the release of Black Widow, pushing back all subsequent movie releases, and halting filming on The Falcon And The Winter Soldier – Disney is at least making moves in pulling together its upcoming slate of Disney+ series. WandaVision is on course for a late 2020 launch, Cap’s pals are now finishing up production, and casting is going ahead for a bunch of previously-announced series. Shortly after news that Tatiana Maslany will play She-Hulk (or will she?), and that Iman Vellani will play Ms. Marvel, there’s a frontrunner for another incoming hero, Moon Knight: none other than Oscar Isaac.

According to Variety, the star is in talks to take on the lead role of Marc Spector. If he does sign on the dotted line, it will be Isaac’s second bite of the apple when it comes to a Marvel property – though since he was largely slathered in chunky blue prosthetics as the titular villain of X-Men: Apocalypse, that shouldn’t prove too much of distraction here. Isaac is no stranger to sci-fi and fantasy projects, having been one of the core cast members in the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy, and is among the cast for Denis Villeneuve’s upcoming Dune.

Moon Knight isn’t a Marvel character who’s hit the screen before – for the uninitiated, he’s akin to Batman, a crime-fighting vigilante with considerable cash reserves, though there's a supernatural bent to Spector linked to the lunar cycle. He also has a series of different identities that he presents to the world. It remains to be seen what angle the Disney+ series will take – but along with Kamala Khan and Jennifer Walters, he’ll be among a new roster of heroes coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the form of a streaming show. Stay tuned for official confirmation on whether Isaac takes the job.
