Fresh off of winning the Best Animated Feature Oscar for his take on Pinocchio, Guillermo del Toro is now putting the pieces together for his next potential live-action film, and he's digging one he's had on the ol' To Do list for years back out into the light. The director has his eye on Oscar Isaac, Andrew Garfield and Mia Goth to star in a Frankenstein film for Netflix.
Deadline reports that this is far from official right now, with GDT still working on the script and no formal offers out to the three stars. But he's talked to them all and they're ready to jump aboard. And let's face it, with del Toro's credentials these days, who can blame them?
Adapting Mary Shelley's Frankenstein with his own spin – no idea yet if it's a period piece or contemporary — is something the filmmaker has been pondering since at least 2008. And with that star wattage interest, we can only imagine that it has every chance of finally becoming a reality.
