Things have been a little quiet for Orlando Bloom since he finished the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy. Now, rather than leap into another blockbuster, he's taken the interesting step of signing up for a much smaller independent movie.
Bloom will take a supporting role in An Education, the latest film by Lone Scherfig, which is described by Variety as a coming-of-age film set in 1960s London. The story follows newcomer Kate Mulligan as a witty 17-year-old who's whisked into a romance by a high-flying 30-something (Peter Sarsgaard). There's no word on who Bloom will play, but the cast also includes Alfred Molina, Rosamund Pike, Emma Thompson and Olivia Williams.
Nick Hornby wrote the script for the film, which is set to shoot in London in March and April.
