With Noomi Rapace already in place, Michael Apted is building the rest of the cast for his new CIA thriller Unlocked. As the backers offer the rights to the film at the Toronto Film Festival, word arrives that Orlando Bloom and Michael Douglas have signed on{
Rapace is starring as a CIA interrogator who unwittingly gives information to terrorists planning to launch a massive biological attack on London. Once she learns what is happening, she scrambles to stop the plan before it can be put into motion.
Nothing is known yet about Bloom or Douglas’ characters, though there is some part of us that would like to see the Legolas man playing a villain – and not in a campy, Three Musketeers fashion, either. Apted will start the cameras rolling in November, with Peter O’Brien providing the script.
Bloom will soon be back practicing elf control for The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies, due on December 12. He’s also worked on Joe Swanberg’s new drama Digging For Fire alongside Anna Kendrick and Jake Johnson. Douglas is at work on Marvel’s Ant-Man, and he’s at the Toronto festival to promote desert-set thriller The Reach.
