Oren Peli Explores Area 51

With his zero budget Paranormal Activity building serious word-of-mouth momentum, Oren Peli's next project has been announced. Area 51 will keep the Blair Witchy found-footage vibe of its predecessor, but revel in the relatively (for Peli) lavish budget of $5m. Paranormal Activity only cost eleven grand.

Peli is keeping tight-lipped about the specifics, other than that the new film involves three teens (presumably with a camera) stumbling onto the army crates and photographs-in-files at Roswell: the site that's supposed to house an alien spaceship that crashed there in the 1950s.

Area 51 was kind of done to death on The X-Files, but given the buzz surrounding Peli, who has again raised the finance himself and will be working with the same production team as before, this will clearly be one to keep an eye on. Production starts next week.

Paranormal Activity opens in the UK on November 27th. Steel yourselves.
