With the likes of True Grit, Tron: Legacy and Cowboys & Alie****ns, Hailee Steinfeld and Olivia Wilde have proved that they can handle themselves in a tough situation on screen. They’ll have a chance to prove it again as they star in Civil War drama The Keeping Room.
The pair will play sisters in the Deep South who, along with the house’s slave, played by Nicole Behaire, fight to defend their house when it comes under attack from a band of Union soldiers who have broken off from the army.
Julia Hart wrote the script and Harry Brown's Daniel Barber will be calling the shots on the film once the producers have locked down financing at the American Film Market, which kicks off today.
"The Keeping Room is a cinematic, thrilling and dangerous piece of material and we could not be more excited with the team has come together to bring this unique story to the screen," says producer and Gilbert Films boss Jordan Horowitz.
Wilde has been busy of late, and has the likes of Rush, The Incredible Burt Wonderston****e, Better Living Through Chemistry and Drinking Buddies all in various stages of postproduction. Steinfeld will next be seen in Romeo And Juliet and Ender’s Game, and Behaire, last seen in Shame, will show up in Brian Helgeland’s 42.
