Graphic novel adaptation Cowboys And Aliens has had a rough old trot to the screen so far: lingering in development for years, it seemed to get moving again when Jon Favreau and Robert Downey Jr. agreed to make it for DreamWorks. Then Downey Jr jumped off the horse and things looked bleak until Daniel Craig signed on in his place. And now things are really looking up as Olivia Wilde has also been cast in the film.
Wilde, best known for her role on TV's House (but scheduled to make jaws drop thanks to her costume in Tron Legacy this December), is in to play cowgirl heroine Ella, who joins up with Craig's mysterious gunslinger to try to help protect humanity from an alien invasion.
With a script by Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Lost's Damon Lindelof, the film is currently at the mercy of Favreau's post-Iron Man 2 schedule, so we'd assume he'll start work on it in the summer, once the long slog of promotion for the Marvel film is finished.
