After news broke shortly before the event, Disney used the D23 Expo last weekend to confirm that Ewan McGregor will indeed return as Obi-Wan Kenobi for a Disney+ series. Now, according to The Star Wars Show, the timeline for the show has been revealed, with word that it'll be set eight years after the events of Revenge Of The Sith.

Given that this means it's 11 years from there until the original Star Wars, and in that time McGregor's character will end up looking like Alec Guinness, we can only imagine what will happen in the show. Of course, that's not really the show's fault – the years were already established. And who knows – there are some dark and terrible things out there in the galaxy far, far away. And it's not like Kenobi hasn't already lost his best friend to the dark side, experienced the lost of almost every other Jedi, and been through a couple of wars. It's nearly 15 years since Sith and McGregor has barely aged himself, so perhaps they will be applying a little age-up make-up or CG to the actor.

Regardless of what happens or how the lead looks, we do know that the scripts are written and it'll shoot next year. Next up for the cinematic franchise is The Rise Of Skywalker, which is out on 19 December and recently put new footage online.
