Although none of the other films based on the character have come to fruition yet, that isn’t stopping Warner Bros. from hopping on board the Robin Hood bandwagon, headed straight for Sherwood Forest.
Yes, we have origin stories and revisionist takes in development, but clearly Warner Bros., writer Will Beall and producers Dan Lin and John Zaozirny think there might just be more to say about the Merry Men. Nothing is known about what that might be yet, not even a basic description of its take on the character. But this now marks four films looking to reach the screen featuring a take on the legendary hero who robbed from the rich to give to the poor.
Disney is working on** Nottingham & Hood, which was written by Brandon Barker as a spec script and is being described as a big-scale adventure the studio is hoping might become as successful as Pirates Of The Caribbean.
Then there’s Sony with Hood, its own take, pitched by Cory Goodman and Jeremy Lott. That one is supposedly a high octane, Mission: Impossible-style version of the story, with lots of stunts and chases. Finally, we have Lionsgate, which is going the young hero route with Robin Hood: Originscrafted by Joby Harold, who coincidentally is behind the **King Arthur **film that Guy Ritchie is busy making. Can one or more of them become a hit? Well, first they have to actually be produced...
