Now You See Me 2

This year's illusionists-as-modern-day-Robin-hoods pic Now You See Me 2 may not have delivered the way the 2013 original did, but that isn't stopping Lionsgate from putting a third film into development. A key part of that has just fallen into place, with Neil Widener and Gavin James hired to write the script.

They might not exactly be well known names yet, but the pair is attracting attention after writing Battle Of Alcatraz for Paramount and, more recently landing the job of writing San Andreas 2 for Dwayne Johnson and New Line.

There are, of course, no real details on the story at this stage, but according to Deadline, the leads – Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Mark Ruffalo, Dave Franco and assuming she doesn't disappear like Isla Fisher after the original, Lizzy Caplan, are expected to return. Jon M. Chu, who made the second movie is attached to direct again, but it remains to be seen if it can conjure up more magic at the box office. And will it be called Now You See 3? Enquiring minds are... Actually not all that enquiring.

Now You See Me 3 in the works.
