It appears to be an occasional quirk of Hollywood that once a film generates a sequel – unless it’s a big franchise with a huge name attached – the editor often steps up to take the job. That’s happening with the follow-up to The Haunting In Connecticut, creatively titled The Haunting In Georgia, which sees editor Tom Elkins taking the director’s chair.
Connecticut saw a family (including Virginia Madsen) relocating to the country for the good of their son’s (Kyle Gallner) health. But their supposedly happy new home came with one problem that the estate agent didn’t talk up – it used to be a mortuary, and it’s bursting with scary supernatural energy.
That first film was based on a true story, and the sequel, which finds a different family dealing with a spooky presence in their Georgia home, is also partially based on truth, at least according to the Heat Vision Blog.
Elkins, who has worked on the likes of Wanted and The Da Vinci Code as well as Connecticut, will make his directorial debut with the movie, kicking off shooting in August once he has a cast. Oh, and once he’s finished slicing and dicing another supernatural thriller – The Apparition.
