It marks the action reunion between Central Intelligence star Dwayne Johnson and director Rawson Marshall Thurber, but Skyscraper is building an eclectic cast around its hulking leading man. The latest to join the ensemble is Noah Taylor.
Johnson is playing a former FBI hostage rescue team commander (and war veteran, to add extra heroic cred) who has segued into advising on security for giant skyscrapers. While on assignment in China, he discovers that one of the towering buildings – seen as the tallest, yet safest building in the world – is suddenly an inferno and someone is framing him for the fire. Now on the run, he has to clear his name, track down the real culprit and rescue his family, who are trapped inside.
What Taylor will be doing in the film has yet to be specified – we'd guess either a pal of Will's who provides some much-needed support, or a conniving type who has it in for him. Either that, or he's playing the building itself using some Andy Serkis-style performance capture magic.
He joins a cast that already includes Neve Campbell (as Will's wife), Pablo Schreiber, Chin Han, Byron Mann and Hannah Quinlivan. The movie is targeting a 13 July release next year.
