Though he's spent the last few years playing a spy-hunting FBI agent who doesn't realise he has two Russian sleeper agents for friends and neighbours on TV drama The Americans, Noah Emmerich is clearly happy to stay with espionage for his next job. He'll star opposite Sacha Baron Cohen in new Netflix series The Spy.
Tyrant creator Gideon Raff is writing and directing the six episodes of this new project, which will follow Eli Cohen (Baron Cohen), a legendary Israeli spy who worked in Syria in the early 1960s. A cunning and charming man, he embedded himself in Syrian high society, rising through the ranks of the country's politics. His actions had lasting consequences, and he helped shape some of today's Middle East.
Emmerich is on as Dan Peleg, a charming, rumpled and brilliant Mossad trainer. He is wise, wary and stubborn, and has a tendency to blur the boundaries between the personal and professional. He has conflicted feelings about Eli and is tormented by a past mistake.
