Well, that didn’t take very long: the first two drips of casting information for JJ Abrams new sci-fi mystery thriller Super 8 leaked over the weekend, with Kyle Chandler and Elle Fanning revealed as two of the leads. But now that tap has been turned on, it seemingly won’t stop, as the Risky Business blog reports that Ron Eldard, Noah Emmerich, Gabriel Basso, Joel Courtney, Riley Griffiths, Ryan Lee and Zach Mills are also on board.

While we’re sure Abrams wanted to keep this one locked down as tight as Cloverfield was before it began shooting. Still, it’s to his credit that he’s managed to conceal a lot of what Super 8 will actually feature beyond the fact that it blends young Midwestern filmmakers spotting something decidedly otherworldly in their footage, courtesy of a crashed military transport train that was on its way from Area 51 to a new location.

Abrams started cranking his cameras in West Virginia on Monday, which meant that set pics are already leaking online, such as the ones posted up over at Ain’t It Cool.

So while Eldard and Emmerich both have track records, who are the lesser-known thesps from that list above? Gabriel Basso is currently acting alongside Laura Linney in US cable show The Big C, Joel Courtney has one short and a little-seen indie, 29 Reasons to Run, to his name, Zach Mills has had small roles in **Mr Magorium’s Wonder Emporium **and The Changelin****g among others, while Riley Griffiths and Ryan Lee appear to be almost totally unknown, which would fit with Abrams’ aim to cast fresh faces.

Super 8 will be with us some time next year.
