No Time To Die

As cinemas stay closed and pandemic case numbers continue their seesaw shift, the outlook for movie releases on big screens is still grim. Universal and Sony, two of the biggest studios in the business have just pushed a batch of their films back down the schedule, including No Time To Die and Edgar Wright's Last Night In Soho.

Universal, which is releasing both of those movies, has announced a slew of changes to its 2021 release plans, with Nobody, starring Bob Odenkirk moving from 26 February to 2 April. That's the date that had been set aside for No Time To Die, the latest Bond film, which is shifting yet again, to 8 October, as outlined on the poster below, which should probably just put "?" on the date for now.

Last Night In Soho, Wright's psychological horror film, had been sitting in a 23 April slot, but that will now head for 22 October.

Sony, meanwhile, is pushing its live-action Cinderella musical from February to 16 July, while Peter Rabbit 2 is moving to 11 June. Ghostbusters: Afterlife will now finally arrive (fingers and toes crossed) on 11 November.

Not mentioned yet is Morbius, which is now in competition with the Bond film, and will likely skedaddle before too long.

And there's bad news for everyone who was looking forward to finally, actually seeing the Uncharted film – that is now going to head to 11 February 2022.

If anyone needs us, we'll be updating our 2021 Preview lists, while crying. But if you want to feel more upbeat about cinema, the latestEmpireis out now, and features a wealth of filmmakers enthusing about the magic of the movies, curated by Edgar Wright.
