Because he clearly hasn’t stuffed the film quite full enough yet, David O. Russell is adding another cast member to his still-untitled (Oi! David! Sort it out, will you?) based-on-truth con man film. The latest name to sign on is Alessandro Nivola.

Nivola joins Bradley Cooper, Christian Bale, Jeremy Renner, Amy Adams, Louis CK and Jennifer Lawrence in the story of a real-life FBI operation that coerced two grifters (Bale and Adams) into helping with a massive operation that ended up taking down several crooked politicians in the 1970s.

Cooper is playing the driven G-man who initially arrests Bale and Adam, while Lawrence will be a woman in Bale’s life. Nivola has come aboard as Federal Prosecutor Reggio, who tried the final case in court.

With financing from Megan Ellison’s Annapurna Pictures, O. Russell is preparing to shoot the movie in Boston and New York, aiming for a December 13 awards-qualifiying run before arriving in the rest of the US on Christmas Day. Nivola will next pop up in Devil’s Knot. We hope he gets on with Cooper on set, as the pair are set to appear in a Broadway stage version of The Elephant Man later this year.
