Recycling: it's not just for movies. Yes, TV does it just as much, but few properties have the apparent repeat value of Luc Besson's 1990 film La Femme Nikita, which was remade on the big screen as The Assassin with Bridget Fonda, then became a TV show in 1997 and ran for five seasons with Peta Wilson in the lead. And now it's back.

US TV channel the CW, home to the likes of Gossip Girl and Supernatural, has ordered a pilot for a new take on the tale with McG, who never met an idea he didn't want to make into a telly series, spearheading the latest evolution.

In the new show's plot, Nikita goes rogue, and we follow the progress of a new assassin being trained to replace her.

La Femme Nikita became something of a cult series back in the late '90s, so assuming this A) makes it out of the pilot stage and B) is any good, it should have a following.
