There’s always been an undercurrent of horror in Game Of Thrones – from its very opening creepy White Walker attack north of the Wall, to the evil that can undoubtedly be found in all corners of Westeros. But the latest George RR Martin adaptation is putting frights front and centre. Netflix has adapted his sci-fi horror novella Nightflyers into a series, depicting a space-bound mission to find intergalactic life that – you guessed it – goes horribly wrong. Here’s an exclusive image of some zero-gravity creepiness in action, as seen in the forthcoming Ultimate 2019 Preview issue of Empire.
“This is significantly different [to Game Of Thrones],” showrunner Jeff Buhler tells Empire. “There are elements of George’s storytelling that are familiar: the world-building, the family relationships, the propensity to make you fall in love with a character – and then kill them.”
Nightflyers comes to Netflix soon, and you can read more about it in the February issue of Empire, hitting newsstands on Thursday 27 December.
