There had been chatter recently that Nicole Kidman would be reuniting with Portrait Of A Lady director Jane Campion for the latter's moody, soulful drama series Top Of The Lake, which stars Elisabeth Moss. The rumours are true, and Kidman is on board for the new season.

And if that wasn't enough, Game Of Thrones' Gwendoline Christie is also aboard for the new season, in what is described as a major role.

Moss plays detective Robin Griffin, who in the first season, investigated the disappearance of a pregnant 12-year-old. In the new story, apparently set four years later, she'll be looking into the case of an unidentified body that washes up on Sydney's Bondi Beach.

The series, which Campion created with Gerald Lee, certainly takes its time; the first season aired in 2013. But Campion and co. have waited until all the pieces are in place, which includes Kidman. The air date for BBC Two in the UK and SundanceTV in the US next year yet to be announced.

Kidman has been busy on TV of late, starring in and co-producing HBO miniseries Big Little Lies alongside Reese Witherspoon. On the big screen, she's worked on Genius, which just arrived in the US, Neil Gaiman adaptation How To Talk To Girls At Parties and based-on-truth drama Lion.
