Far back in the distant mists of time... well, 2015, at least, Cate Blanchett was all ready to play sitcom legend and entertainer Lucille Ball in a film. Back then, the producers wanted Aaron Sorkin to write the script, which he eventually did. But since the film, now known as Being The Ricardos has chugged through development, there have been some changes, with Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem making deals to star and Sorkin in the director's chair.
Ball, an actress and producer was a driving force alongside then husband Desi Arnaz for shows such as I Love Lucy, The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour, T_he Lucy Show_, Here’s Lucy and Life With Lucy. Being The Ricardos, which takes its name from the couple's on-screen married name, is set during one production week of I Love Lucy — Monday table read through Friday audience filming — when Lucy and Desi face a crisis that could end their careers and another that could end their marriage.
Kidman and Bardem have yet to sign their deals, so this could change, and of course Coronavirus concerns may yet delay the cameras rolling, but Sorkin certainly seems eager to make it, using this as his follow-up to The Trial Of The Chicago 7.
