With just 24 hours to go before her ex-husband landed in Britain for Minority Report's UK premiere, Nicole Kidman wisely decided to skip the competition and miss out on the London premiere for her own film Birthday Girl. Instead, fans of British actor Ben Chaplin were given unlimited access to their boyish hero who turned up in Islington, chuffed to bits with being the sole star of the night. 'I quite enjoy the attention,' he told Empire Online. 'It's Birthday Boy for a day.' Much has been made of some of the film's rather revealing sex scenes, but Chaplin was pretty nonchalant about getting naked with Nicole. 'Yeah, they were all right. It was just a day at the office.' Seriously, he added, 'she's fantastic to work with in every respect.' The film, which features Chaplin as a man who orders a mail-order bride (Kidman), begs the questions - what desparate things had Ben himself done in the name of love? 'I've made a fool of myself, many times,' he sighed. 'I've done some very sad, embarassing and humiliating things in the name of love.'
