Nicolas Cage Finds Lost Melody

He may not be playing every dinosaur in Jurassic Park (confused? Try our Twitter feed), but Nicolas Cage is still keeping busy in the rest of the cinematic universe. He’s in talks to star in a new film from Bad Santa’s Terry Zwigoff, called **Lost Melody.

The plot would find Cage as a man who is trapped in a loveless marriage with a nasty, overly critical wife. So what does he do? Let’s guess… Does he A) divorce her and get on with his life? B) devote his time to positive things such as helping orphans, kittens and orphaned kittens; Or C) fall for a prostitute. If you know anything about movies, and Cage’s filmic past, there’s really only one answer here. Yup…. C).

Zwigoff has co-written the script with Melissa Axelrod. Edward R. Pressman is producing and seems confident he has a winner with this one. "When considering a project, I think it most important that the director and the film live in the same universe and Terry certainly achieves this with Lost Melody," Pressman tells The Wrap. "I’ve always wanted to work with Terry and am excited to be teaming on a wonderful darkly-funny drama in the tradition of such classics as The Blue Angel and Sunset Boulevard."

Cage will next be seen in The Frozen Ground alongside John Cusack (out July 19) and is at work on kidnap thriller Tokarev. He’s also finished shooting David Gordon Green’s new drama, Joe.
