If you’ve been keeping tabs at all on the casting process for Transformers 4, you’ll know that Michael Bay has been taking his time finding people to co-star alongside leading man Mark Wahlberg.Back in December last year, signs pointed to Brenton Thwaites and Nicola Peltz snagging the prime parts, but nothing official emerged. Bay has announced that Peltz, at least, has scored the female lead.
She’ll join Wahlberg and more recent hire Jack Reynor, who was cast in January.** Transformers 4** takes place as humanity picks up the pieces following the devastating battles of Dark Of The Moon.
Most of the Autobots and Decepticons have left the planet, but certain people just can’t leave well enough alone, and a group of powerful, clever businessmen are dabbling in ways of using Transformer technology for their own ends. Plus, there’s an ancient, powerful Cybertron-spawned enemy arriving with Earth in his crosshairs.
Amidst all that we’ll meet Wahlberg’s character, his daughter (Peltz) and her racer boyfriend (Reynor). No idea yet on whether Thwaites will score a part or was even in final contention, but Bay and co will be headed to Detroit to shoot in the spring ready for a June 27, 2014 release date. We just hope Peltz, who has been seen in Deck The Halls and The Last Airbender, along with episodes of the new Bates Motel TV drama, has her Bayhem insurance up to date. She’ll need it.
