Even as he kicks off filming, director Taylor Hackford is slotting the remaining few casting pieces into place for his new action thriller, Parker, with Nick Nolte, Patti LuPone and Emma Booth all signing up.
Parker, adapted from Donald E Westlake’s novel series, finds Jason Statham as the titular thief, a man who lives by a code of honour but who will kill when necessary and should never be trifled with. Which you'd think everyone would know, since he's played by Statham, but we bet someone silly will try.
Nolte is aboard to play his mentor (wonder if something bad will happen to him because, judging by The Mechanic and the upcoming Killer Elite, that’s not a safe place to be around The Stath). There’s no word on what roles Booth or LuPone have snatched.
The cast also includes Michael Chiklis, Wendell Pierce and Clifton Collins Jr. Oh, and Jennifer Lopez is confirmed aboard, playing a real estate agent who we assume comes into contact with Parker.
Hackford, working from John J McLaughlin’s script, will continue to shoot the movie in New Orleans this week.
