Nicolas Cage as an actor, heck as a human being, always seems somewhat meta, charting his own course through life. Now, though, he's going even more meta in his career, via action comedy The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent, which has a new trailer online.
Cage stars as, well, "Nick Cage" a version of himself who is creatively unfulfilled and facing financial ruin, the fictionalized version of Cage must accept a $1 million offer to attend the birthday of a dangerous super-fan (Pedro Pascal).
Things take a wildly unexpected turn when Cage is recruited by a CIA operative (Tiffany Haddish) and forced to live up to his own legend, channeling his most iconic and beloved on-screen characters in order to save himself and his loved ones. With a career built for this very moment, the seminal award-winning actor must take on the role of a lifetime: Nicolas Cage.
Expect much musing on the Cagemeister's prolific, eclectic career and plenty of Cage (and others) poking fun at his image.
With Tom Gormican in the director's chair, The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent will hit UK cinemas on 22 April.
