It’s one of the few blockbusters yet to have released a frame of actual footage, but the promotional push for X-Men: First Class is about to get kicked up a notch. A brand new image of Magneto has appeared over at Entertainment Weekly (and you can see it below), but in even better news, the trailer will finally hit later today (UK time, at least) on the movie’s Facebook fan page.

To whet our appetites, the official logo for the movie that premiered a little while ago has turned up on the site, along with the promise that, “As the number of fans who share the trailer grows, a specially designed X-App will subsequently unlock special content. The X-App gives users the power to evolve their Facebook experience and customize their profile pictures.” Yes, Mark Zuckerberg not only wants more of your personal information, he now wants you to look like a mutant. Kidding…

Still, it’ll be good to finally see the characters actually interacting, and to watch the plot unfold. In case you didn’t know already, First Class will follow the origin of the X-Men, and explain how Professor Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) and Erik Lehnsherr (Michael Fassbender)’s deep friendship got fractured as they dabbled in international events and began to realise the true spread of superpowered mutations across the world.

With the likes of Jennifer Lawrence, January Jones, Rose Byrne, Nicholas Hoult, Kevin Bacon, Oliver Platt, Lucas Till and Caleb Landry Jones also in the cast, X-Men: First Class will be out on May 30. You can read much more about the movie in this month’s Empire.
