It’s been a regular X-Menapolooza these last few days, which is hardly surprising given that the mutant sequel was expected to have a big presence at the San Diego Comic-Con. But following on from the Sentinel head display and that cast-heavy panel comes two new posters for the films, which you can see below.
The images mash-up the old and young versions of Professor Xavier and Erik “Magneto” Lehnsherr, played by Patrick Stewart and James McAvoy and Ian McKellen and Michael Fassbender respectively.
It’s a neat idea, even if the pitfall could have been in people noticing the two pairs don’t seem exactly alike, and from a distance, the blend of Stewart's shiny noggin with McAvoy's shaggy moustache makes the poster look like Ming the Merciless. We’d guess this will be the first of several posters to make their way onto the web to keep the publicity machine ticking over now that the madness of the 'Con is dying down.
X-Men: Days Of Future Past finds the heroes struggling to change a dark alternate universe where mutants are hunted and captured or killed by Bolivar Trask's (Peter Dinklage) giant robot Sentinels. Professor X and Magneto find a way to send Hugh Jackman’s Logan back in time, where he tracks down and tries to get the younger versions of the X-Men (and Brotherhood of Evil Mutants) to help change the future.
Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Halle Berry, Evan Peters, Booboo Stewart, Fan Bingbing, Shawn Ashmore, Omar Sy, and Lucas Till also feature in Bryan Singer’s latest X-film, which is out here on May 22 next year.
