More X-Men action is headed our way this year, as X-Men: Apocalypse promises to challenge our heroes like never before. A new poster for the movie brings big villain Apocalypse to the fore alongside his mutant Four Horsemen.

Technically, since the Horsemen are made up of Michael Fassbender's Magneto, Olivia Munn's Psylocke, Alexandra Shipp's Storm and Ben Hardy's Angel, they should probably be called the Four Horsepeople of the apocalypse, but that doesn't sound quite so Biblical. And Apocalypse himself (Oscar Isaac) is an ancient mutant – the first – so he's not all that up to date on modern times.

Awoken in 1983, he's dismayed to discover that the Earth isn't what he intended it to be, so he sets about altering it in radical ways. But he doesn't count on the X-Men, led by Charles Xavier (James McAvoy), who are looking to stop him. If they can...

This third outing for the First Class gang finds them in different places, both physically and mentally. Charles is running his school for gifted youngsters and trying to keep the peace between mutants and humans. Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) is off on her own mission, while Magneto has opted for the quiet life, at least before Apocalypse comes calling.

With Sophie Turner, Nicholas Hoult, Rose Byrne, Evan Peters, Kodi Smit-Mcphee and Tye Sheridan also part of the cast, X-Men: Apocalypse will be out here on May 19. For our primer on the film, head here.
