As we approach the May opening of Water For Elephants, 20th Century Fox is naturally trying to keep the film in cinemagoers’ minds. And given that Francis Lawrence’s new film is based on Sara Gruen’s book, it seems somehow appropriate that the latest trailer is featured at Amazon.
Robert Pattinson plays Jacob Jankowski, a young man whose world is shattered when his parents are killed in a car accident. But while he abandons his veterinary studies, he doesn’t move into the world of road safety, oh no. Instead, he does exactly what you’d expect and runs off to join a second-rate circus.
There, he meets seemingly warm and friendly owner August Rosenbluth (Christoph Waltz), but truly becomes smitten with Marlena (Reese Witherspoon), August’s beautiful wife and one of the circus’ star performers. Even as he becomes closer to Marlena while tending to the animals, Jacob learns that August isn’t quite as balanced as he seemed, and has a nasty streak a mile wide when crossed. And then tragedy strikes…
This new promo features a wealth of new footage, so if you’re eagerly anticipating the film, go check it out. Let’s face it, if you’re a fan of the Pattinson man, you’ve probably bypassed all this blather anyway.
Water for Elephants is out on May 4 over here, but American audiences will experience it on April 22.
