With every new glimpse, it becomes clearer that WandaVision won’t be quite like anything we’ve seen before – not in the MCU, and not on TV either. And that continues with the arrival of a trippy new trailer, which delves deep into the surreality of Marvel’s first Disney+ streaming series – a sitcom-inspired superhero show centred on Elizabeth Olsen’s uber-powerful Scarlet Witch, and her (deceased) robo-lover, Paul Bettany’s Vision. Except, why is she stuck in a TV-esque reality? And how is Vision alive again? Expect more questions and very few answers in the trailer:
Looks super-exciting, right? This is the trailer that gives the best impression of the superhero side of the series, as well as the sitcom aesthetic – we’ve heard that this is going to be on a big scale, and there are flashes of what that’ll involve here. Plus, there’s an even better look here at Kathryn Hahn’s neighbour Agnes, and Teyonah Parris as the grown-up Monica Rambeau (the little kid in Captain Marvel). And did you catch a quick appearance from Kat Dennings’ Darcy, returning from the first two Thor movies? Also in there in a brief flash is Randall Park’s Jimmy Woo from Ant-Man And The Wasp. Goodness knows how it all ties together.
Of course, if you want to read the full story on WandaVision, pick up the latest issue of Empire – we’ve got a major exclusive on the show, featuring brand new interviews with Kevin Feige, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany and more, plus tons of images and info about the series. It’s on sale now at all good (and evil) newsagents, or you can order a copy online here.
WandaVision is confirmed to arrive on Disney+ from 15 January 2021.
