So. Exciting. The release date for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse** is drawing ever-closer, and here's another clip from the film to give you a taste of what's in store from this instalment's director, David Slade. And for a wonder, this scene does not feature any star-cross'd lovers, although there's still a bit of brooding from Dakota Fanning's Jane and her contingent of Volturi vampire enforcers.
In a scene that's been added to the book, we see Jane and the Volturi keeping an eye on the army of super-strong "newborn" vampires created by Victoria (Bryce Dallas Howard, taking over from Rachel Lefevre) to get her revenge on Edward and Bella (Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart). Will the Volturi step in and use their abilities to stop these newcomers? Well, probably not, given what we've already seen in the Eclipse trailer, but at this point in the film they're clearly still considering the question.
Oh, and those of you who missed New Moon will get a chance here to see Jane's superpower in action here: like most of the Cullen family and Volturi, she has a special ability beyond the usual vampire gifts. In her case, she's able to cause pain with a simple thought - hence the reaction of Daniel Cudmore's Felix here. Just in case you thought he was doing some sort of yoga.
Eclipse is out here on July 9, at which point everything will become clear, or rather remain overcast and cloudy but terribly, terribly photogenic.
