The Next Tron Film Could Be Another Sequel

Tron Legacy

We'd warn that this story is floating strictly in the Rumoursphere for now, but there has apparently been an update to the potential for a next Tron film. Back in 2017, there was chatter about a Tron reboot which had Jared Leto attached, but now, according to The Disinsider, the talk has turned to an actual sequel to both the original and 2010's Tron Legacy.

While Disney has made no official statement about the future of the Tron universe, the fan site has heard rumblings that the film would allow for the Tron: Legacy cast to return, though this new development isn't likely to follow the storyline that was planned for Tron: Ascension, the third movie idea that has since been abandoned.

Legacy director Joseph Kosinski is not apparently involved, with Disinsider dropping mention that other directors are in the mix to handle the film.

Does this mean Tron will actually spring back to life like an arcade game given a new plug? Don't hold your breath, but it does seem as though Disney is still interested in the Grid.
