Given that so many movies are being delayed, it's something of a relief to report on a studio planing a flag for a new film. Paramount is planting a flag in 24 June 2022 for a new Transformers entry.

A bigger question is quite what form that film will take: the studio (and TF partners Hasbro) have several movies based around those robots in disguise at various stages of script and development. The live-action latest has Joby Harold and James Vanderbilt writing separate scripts, which we'd assume will be combined into one, or make for the chance of back-to-back productions. And then there's the animated prequel telling the story of how the clash between the Autobots and Decepticons got motoring in the first place, which recently saw Toy Story 4's Josh Cooley come aboard to direct.

Paramount obviously still thinks there's life in the franchise, even if we're not apparently getting another Bumblebee.

In related studio news (that will delight our James Dyer) Aaron Sorkin's next film, The Trial Of The Chicago 7 has been handed a limited release on 25 September, followed by a wider platform on 16 October, across the pond at least.
