While Marvel's MCU continues to dominate the superhero landscape, Warner Bros. is aiming to stake out its claim to territory more along the lines of Deadpool, but in a family friendly format. The new trailer for Teen Titans Go! To The Movies is now online.
In a world where seemingly every superhero is getting their own movie the Teen Titans are feeling left out, especially when they watch a trailer for a film about Batman's butler Alfred. De facto Titans leader Robin (Scott Menville) is determined to remedy the situation, and be seen as a star instead of a sidekick. If only they could get the hottest Hollywood film director to notice them. With a few madcap ideas and a song in their heart, the Teen Titans head to Tinsel Town, certain to pull off their dream.
But when the group is radically misdirected by a seriously super villain (Will Arnett's Slade Wilson/Deathstroke, confuse him with Deadpool at your peril) and his maniacal plan to take over the Earth, things really go awry. The team finds their friendship and their fighting spirit failing, putting the very fate of the Teen Titans themselves on the line...
With jokes about the Green Lantern film (admittedly not perhaps the freshest material) and the usual chaos from the Teen Titans, the movie will be in cinemas on 3 August. Which, given that Ant-Man And The Wasp arrives the same day, is either canny counter-programming or a recipe for disaster.
