New Trailer For Under The Skin Lands

We've been hearing many good things about Under The Skin, Scarlett Johansson's otherworldly team-up with Jonathan Glazer, from Empire**'s own festival reporter and other critics at the Venice Film Festival. Its new trailer has done nothing to dispel anticipation about Glazer's return to the moviemaking kingdom. This new, full-length trailer landed at ONTD (via The Playlist), although it could easily have been Area 51, such is its spooky, alien atmosphere. Click below to see what we mean.

It's discordant and full of arresting shots of weird kids, bleak nightscapes and things emerging from the shadow. If David Lynch remade Let The Right One In in Dumfries, it might look a little like the headtrip that Glazer has conjured here.

What he's made is based on Michel Faber's sci-fi novel of the same name. It sees Johansson as a human-like alien sent to Earth to prey on hitchhikers in Scotland. Her job is to take them back to other aliens so that they can be fattened up and feasted upon, though in the film version it may not be as simple as that.

By all accounts, Johansson turns in a startling turn as a stranger in a strange land with murder in mind. It's also a welcome return from the** Sexy Beast **director for what, incredibly, is only his third feature film, which saw him populate the frame with non-actors to lend an eerie, naturalist mood to the piece.

Under The Skin is showing at the London Film Festival before opening wide across the UK in the not-too-distant future. For more in the meantime, watch its teaser trailer here.
