Following its premiere at Cannes earlier this year, John Cameron Mitchell's Neil Gaiman adaptation How To Talk To Girls At Parties is headed to the BFI London Film Festival. Check out the latest trailer for the film.

Mitchell has taken on the unenviable task of adapting one of Gaiman's shorter stories for the film, which takes in punks, aliens and awkward teenagers. Nicole Kidman and Elle Fanning are the marquee names, but the focus is on Henry, AKA Enn (Alex Sharp) and friends John (Ethan Lawrence) and Vic (AJ Lewis), who are looking to swap mundane suburban Silver Jubilee celebrations in 1977 Croydon for a night on the wilder side.

Obsessed with the punk scene and looking to score the respect of local music matriarch Boadicea (Kidman), the trio decide to gatecrash a party she's throwing, but aren't quite prepared for what they find within... While the place is thronged with impossibly beautiful teenage students, something isn't quite right about them, even if Vic chalks it up to them being "Californians".

But as Enn discovers when he forges a connection with the mysterious and lovely Zan (Fanning), who identifies him as a fellow outsider, he learns that the visitors are from a little further than they thought...

The film should be in UK cinemas next year, but Film4 has yet to specify a date.
