Tick, tock… tick, tock… Yes, 24 is coming back to our screens. 24: Legacy boasts a new star in Straight Outta Compton’s Corey Hawkins and a new trailer that hints at little by way of departure from the tried-and-tested format, beyond the truncated season length. Watch it below.

Amid all the split screens, helicopter shots of The Capitol and people driving around in massive SUVs, Hawkins will be battling evildoers as a Special Forces trooper called Eric Carter. This franchise extension picks up three years after 24: Live Another Day and takes place in Washington DC.

After a successful black ops to assassinate terrorist linchpin Sheik Ibrahim Bin-Khalid unleashes a storm of violent retribution on the follow members of his unit, Carter has to turn to CTU for help. There is, of course, a mole in the organisation. Not an actual mole, just to be clear. A terrorist insider.

Will Carter find out who the mole is and whack him or her in time? Will Jack Bauer pop up to lend a hand? Will anyone find time for a loo break or a quick sandwich? Find out when 24: Legacy hits US screens on 5 February, 2017, just after the Super Bowl.
